As world language educators at Roxbury High School, our goal is to improve authentic oral communication among levels through classroom created work using technology.
The 21st century student we see in our classroom is just as comfortable with technology-based communication as they are with face-to-face conversation. Our challenge as world language teachers is to find ways to use this technology in authentic and meaningful ways that put the actual technology itself in the background.
Our aim is real communication. The use of technology should never be the goal in and of itself, but should serve as one avenue of opportunity for language acquisition. That being said, we cannot ignore the unique opportunities cogent use of technology affords in second language learning. It is to this end that we choose the above as our department goal.
